CancerCure Technology Ltd. (CCT) is a company working on Magnetic Resonance (MR) guided cancer treatment systems and selectively induced drug release for significantly improved therapeutic index (survival).
The technology represents real time monitoring, novel combinations and optimization of current treatment regimes. Lead time to market 1 – 2.5 years.
The technology is patented (approved). Total market size USD 45 bill. (2004).
A minor element of the total treatment concept (low frequency ultrasound combined with liposomally encapsulated drug), under very suboptimal conditions, has provided increased life expectancy of 30 – 40 % [Myhr & Moan (2006)].
CCtech cooperates extensively with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and are negotiating with international entities.
On December 2, 2010 CCTech was informed that the European Patent Office intends to grant a European patent titled: “Ultrasound Treatment System” – European Patent Application No. 06744068.5 (1909908).
On May 7, 2010 a new patent application was jointly filed in the US and UK:
Methods and systems for inducing hyperthermia
United Kingdom Patent Application No.: GB1006446.7
Abstract
A system and methods are provided for cancer and thrombi treatments in which hyperthermia is induced in an initial phase and cavitation and/or drug release are induced in a subsequent phase in a region of interest in a human or animal body. The system includes an energy transmitter having a variable intensity and/or a variable frequency; and a control unit arranged to control the energy transmitter to operate in at least two different modes. In one embodiment, the first mode is a mode of operation having a mechanical index below a threshold level for cavitation; and the second mode is a mode of operation having a mechanical index above a threshold level for cavitation. In another embodiment, the first mode induces hyperthermia below a temperature threshold for releasing an encapsulated agent and the second mode induces hyperthermia above the temperature threshold. The initial hyperthermia treatment enhances the effect of subsequent treatments.”
